March 12, 2024- While 2023 saw Grammy-winning duo Indigo Girls’ iconic song “Closer to Fine” used prominently in Greta Gerwig’s hit film Barbie, 2024 finds the Indigo Girls and their music in two films as well as playing their biggest tour venues in 25 years on co-billed tours with Amos Lee and Melissa Etheridge. The folk icons were guests this morning on both Morning Joe and The Today Show performing their new single from the film Glitter & Doom, “What We Wanna Be.”

Today sees the release of the full trailer for Indigo Girls: It’s Only Life After All, the acclaimed documentary feature by Alexandria Bombach. The film has screened at major festivals across the globe in 2023, including Sundance Film Festival, Tribeca Festival, SXSW, and Toronto’s Hot Docs and will finally see its theatrical release through distributor O-Scope Labs. The theatrical release will kick off on March 29 with a special screening in the Indigo Girls’ hometown of Atlanta at Atlanta’s Tara Theater, followed by a Q &A and live performance. The Indigo Girls’ music takes center stage in another new film, the jukebox musical romance Glitter & Doom, out now. Directed by Tom Gustafson (Were the World Mine, Frameline32), Glitter & Doom boasts a star-studded queer supporting cast featuring Lea DeLaria, Tig Notaro, Kate Pierson of The B-52s, RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Peppermint, and even a cameo from the Indigo Girls themselves. The film Music Box Films released the film in NYC and L.A. March 8 and the Girls performed their new single from the film, “What We Wanna Be,” this morning on the Today Show. Look for a nationwide theatrical rollout and a VOD release. The film soundtrack is now available through the PS Classics record label streaming and digitally HERE.
