Madrid becomes the capital of IBA Champions’ Night on 4 May

MADRID, 3 maggio 2024– The Spanish capital city is ready to host another edition of IBA Champions’ Night on Saturday, 4 May at the Madrid Arena. Six bouts are scheduled to take place in front of fully-packed arena from 18:30 CEST.

Five Spanish boxers are ready to delight a home crowd and give a fight to their rivals from around the globe. The main event will feature Jose Quiles from Spain versus Javier Ibañez representing Bulgaria fighting for IBA Pro European Champion title at 57kg in a 8-round bout.

In the co-main event, Spanish boxer Enmanuel Reyes Pla, a seasoned 31-year-old athlete, will face off against the young and talented 21-year-old Shohjakhon Abdullaev from Uzbekistan in the 92kg weight category. Reyes Pla, a bronze medalist from the IBA World Championships 2021 and runner-up in the European Championships 2022, will be challenged by Abdullaev, who has already achieved notable victories, including the Asian champion title in the Youth and U22 weight categories.

Adding to the excitement, Italian Aziz Abbes Mouhiidine, a two-time silver medalist from the IBA World Championships, will take on Ukë Smajli from Switzerland in the 92kg division. Mouhiidine, who secured continental titles at the European Championships 2022 and European Games 2023, will challenge Smajli, a 10-time Swiss champion, international tournament medallist and a seasoned participant in major continental and world events.

Fans will also witness a thrilling clash between home favorite Gabriel Escobar, winner of the European Games 2019 in the 54kg category, and Franck Mombey from Gabon. Mombey, the runner-up at the African Championships 2023 and a bronze medalist at the African Games 2023, is determined to make his mark in this highly anticipated bout.

Additionally, Sergio Martinez, a bronze medalist from the EUBC U22 European Championships, will go head-to-head against Davron Bozorov from Moldova in the 71kg weight division. Bozorov, who has competed internationally, including at the IBA World Championships 2023, will undoubtedly provide a formidable challenge for Martinez.

Kicking off the night, Martin Molina from Spain will face Deepak Bhoria from India in a clash between two IBA World Championships bronze medalists in the 51kg category.
