Prince William and Princess Kate will visit Anglesey and Swansea today (Tuesday). It will be the couple’s first appearance in the country in their new roles as Prince and Princess of Wales.
Timings are yet to be confirmed but the couple will visit the RNLI Holyhead Lifeboat Station, where they will meet crew, volunteers and people who have been helped by the charity. The Prince and Princess, who used to live in Anglesey, will walk from the lifeboat station to the Holyhead Marine and Café Bar where they will meet locals including representatives of small businesses and organisations including the Coastguard and Sea Cadets.
The couple will then travel to St Thomas Church in Lewis Street, Swansea. Over the last two years the church has been transformed into a community hub which includes a foodbank, facilities for homeless people, and a not-for-profit café and community training kitchen. The site is also home to the Swansea Baby Basics scheme which distributes essentials for vulnerable mothers across the city. The Prince and Princess will meet volunteers at the hub as well as some members of the public outside.
A Kensington Palace spokesperson said: “The Prince and Princess have a deep affection for Wales, having made their first family home in Anglesey, and have thoroughly enjoyed previous visits and the warmth and kindness shown by the Welsh people. Their Royal Highnesses are looking forward to spending more time in Wales over the coming months and years, taking the time to strengthen their relationship with communities in all parts of Wales.”
Earlier this month King Charles III used his first public address as King to appoint William the new Prince of Wales. More than 35,000 people signed a petition against the title being passed on.

We understand Prince William and Princess Kate want to “deepen trust” with the Welsh public by frequently visiting Wales — including a trip to Cardiff before Christmas.
